The High School uses a testing program called Accelerated Reader for our computer-based reading assessment. AR helps educators make reading practice a component of their existing curriculum more effective by providing tools to personalize practice and easily manage the daily activities for students of all ability levels.
The library purchased hundreds of tests for many of our books. Click on the links to see the lists of books that have Accelerated Reader tests. You can search for tests by Author, Title and Book Level here.
Students self-select a book within their ZPD range to read for pleasure. Reading a book within the Zone of Proximal Development enables the student to learn vocabulary while reading in context of the book. This way the book is not to easy and encourages growth while at the same time, it is not so difficult that it impedes comprehension.
